The VTP distribution contains the libraries, demos, data, and completely open source for the Virtual Terrain Project. It is written to run on fast Windows or Linux machines with 3D acceleration. To date, there are around 6500 VTP recipients in 130 countries.
You will want to have a fast internet connection, as the complete distribution with demo data is around 45 MB. That's roughly 4 hours with a 28.8k modem, 2 hours with a 56.6k modem, or 1-5 minutes with broadband.
To download, send email to request-download@vterrain.org with the following information:
- Your name, city and country (for us to know where the users are)
- Optionally, tell us a little about your interest in virtual terrain, or what part of the world you would like to model.
After you have done that, you can go to http://vterrain.org/Download/
You are highly encouraged to join a mailing list to be informed of VTP news and information, find other people working in your part of the world, to ask support questions, or to discuss any kind of virtual terrain issues.
